Preparing to Launch...

Tomorrow, I will blast off on one of the greater adventures of my life. I will go where no one in my family has gone before, Mother Russia. It is a small step for me, a greater step for other people. (Ok, is everyone sick of the space related puns yet? no? alright, I'll keep them coming.)

As I am only partially packed (just clothes and various needles), and my mom doesn't believe my suitcase thus far only weighs 18.4 lbs (I bought a luggage scale-- tip to other travelers, worth it!) I will keep this post short. It only sunk in today that I am going to RUSSIA! because I've been living the LSAT lifestyle. I am very grateful I get to go because for a while it was up in the air whether I could afford it, but with some good luck and better grades, I was able to receive scholarships to cover the majority of my program cost (and the cost effectiveness of the U of U Study Abroad Programs also helped!). Thanks to FLAS, and all the people in the Study Abroad Office for their hard work. For more info about making Study Abroad work for YOU, visit this website: www.ie.utah.edu.

Well comrades, I should be off to finish packing and enjoy the last day that I have in Utah with my loved ones and friends. In 24 hours, I will be boarding a plane to JFK to head to Moscow for 3 days, before meeting my host family and starting my classes. Send happy thoughts to me so I don't get sick on the plane. Much love...

Houston, start the countdown... T-24 hours....
